Raichur MLAs protest for power, arrested
High drama prevailed on the RTPS premises when an argument broke out between the MLAs and KPCL officials over their demands.
RAICHUR: Raichur City MLA Dr Shivaraj Patil and Raichur Rural MLA Thipparaj Havaldar, who tried to barge into the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) premises at the Raichur Thermal Power Station near here, seeking 24 power supply to all consumers in the district, were arrested Thursday midnight.
High drama prevailed on the RTPS premises when an argument broke out between the MLAs and KPCL officials over their demands.
Traffic on Raichur-Hyderabad road came to a standstill for seven hours because of the dharna by the supporters of the MLAs. Director (Technical) of KPCL Jaykumar tried to persuade the MLAs and their supporters to withdraw their protest. But the MLAs did not relent.
