Hyderabad: Parents' body walks out of Rao panel
Hyderabad: Members of the Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) walked out of a meeting of the Prof. Tirupathi Rao committee on Friday after it failed to submit its report by the deadline of November 30. The parents said that over 250 days had passed, and over six extensions had been granted, but the committee was yet to submit its report.
Registering their protest against the delay in the submission of the report, members of the HSPA wrote an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday. This letter is in addition to a series of campaigns launched by the HSPA with the hope of drawing the government’s attention towards the situation.
HSPA member Arvinda Jata said, “As per the latest information, the committee will submit its report, which will talk about the three-tier fee structure, in January. Due to extensions continuously being granted, the HSPA will no longer be a part of this farce. We have decided to resign and move out. We boycott the committee from here on.”
He said that the letter was a form of protest against the government’s failure to stop schools from looting parents in the name of fees. He said that the letter demanded immediate fulfilment of the government’s promise to regulate school fees.
