Hyderabad HC issues notice to 2 Banjara Hills cops for intervening in civil dispute

HC has directed the station house officer of the Banjara Hills police station and sub-inspector K. Harinder to appear before the court.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has directed the station house officer of the Banjara Hills police station and sub-inspector K. Harinder to appear before the court to explain why they had intervened in a civil dispute on December 12.

Justice S.V. Bhatt while dealing with a petition by Banjara Hills resident S. Madhulata directed the city police commissioner to enquire into the allegations made by the petitioner against the SHO and the SI through an ACP-level officer.

The petitioner was aggrieved by the highhanded and illegal activities of the sub-inspector who had threatening her to settle the civil dispute with one Deekshith Rao Eravalli.

Counsel for Ms Madhulata submitted that when the petitioner lodged a complaint against Eravalli the police did not issue an FIR whereas they registered a case against her on the complaint of the man.

Justice Bhatt pointed out that though the courts from time to time was issuing orders directing the police to refrain from intervening in civil disputes, the police were continuing with the practice.
