People will throw TD into Bay of Bengal, says Jagan Mohan Reddy
Vijayawada: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday demanded that the state government explain why it was going for land pooling to acquire land for the Machilipatnam port, when it had 5,200 acres of the already identified land.
The Opposition leader said the people would “throw” the TD into the Bay of Bengal if the government continued with its “anti-people” policies.
As part of his tour in Kr-ishna district on Thurs-day, Mr Jagan Mohan Re-ddy interacted with farmers at Buddhalapalem and Kona, who have been agitating against land acquisition for industries associated with the proposed Machilipatnam port.
The YSRC chief spoke to the oustees of Bandar po-rt at Kona in Krishna district, and assured them that he would fight for th-eir cause. He warned that he would not allow any forcible land acquisition.
Ms Bala Gowri, a local, told Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy that officers had been threatening her to give back the assigned land of 3 acres, which her family had been cultivating for 20 years. She said the officials were causing trouble to the family.
Former sarpanch Durg-aiah alleged that officers were forcibly taking away land.
“I own 8 acres of ag-ricultural land and every day, they have been threatening us,” Mr Durgaiah alleged.
While interacting with Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, MPTC member Naga Lakshmi said she was not being invited to the local programmes being organised by the government. “They are not inviting us even when the minister visits this area,” she said. She alleged that officers had misused the '1.5 crore funds that was allocated to the veterinary hospital. Later, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a public meeting at Kona.
