Masthigudi director, stunt choreographer move Karnataka High Court

The High Court has reserved its judgment on petitions challenging Akrama-Sakrama scheme.

BENGALURU: Kannada film Masthigudi director Nagashekar and its stunt choreographer Raviverma, both accused in the tragic death of two actors during the shooting of the film at TG Halli reservoir, on Thursday approached the High Court seeking bail. Their bail petition was listed for hearing before the single judge bench on Friday.

They had approached the court after a lower court in Ramanagara rejected their bail pleas. In a tragic turn of events, two Kannada actors - Uday and Anil died after a stunt went horribly wrong at Tippagondanahalli Lake. They were filming the stunts for an upcoming film Masthigudi, which stars Duniya Vijay. During the shoot Vijay and the two actors, Anil and Uday, had jumped into the lake from a helicopter. While the lead actor swam ashore, the other two didn’t surface and the bodies were found after two days.

Aggrieved by the government’s efforts to legalise illegal constructions, the Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development, Citizens Action Forum and Namma Bengaluru Foundation have challenged the Constitutional validity of the scheme.
