Hyderabad: Following a series of complaints about private tour operators’ buses occupying the road near the Kacheguda railway station, the Hyderabad traffic police has imposed restrictions on travel agencies on parking their vehicles in the area, and from Tourist Hotel to Lingampally junction.
The restrictions will come into force from Friday. For three decades, 26 travel agencies and commission agents have been operating from these areas. Buses from Hyderabad to Rayalaseema in AP and Bengaluru are parked on these roads from 8 pm to 11 pm. During peak hours, these buses cause heavy traffic jams, not to mention the noise made by their drivers.
Many hospitals are located in Kacheguda and these parked buses often obstruct movement of ambulances. The Kacheguda traffic police works in three shifts here, still there is no control on the traffic. The situation repeats from 3 am to 7 am when the buses arrive in the city.
Following a number of complaints on the traffic police Facebook page regarding the situation, Traffic DCP A.V. Ranganath held a series of review meetings with travel operators and directed them to stop parking buses in Kacheguda to bring an end to public inconvenience.
“We have told them to park the vehicles at a suitable place between Nimboliadda and Chaderghat. From Friday, we will not allow them to operate their buses from Kacheguda,” he said.
He said that the traffic police had given private travel companies 10 days to make arrangements at the new place including installation of CCTV cameras, lighting, public announcement system and separate gates for entry and exit.
