Hyderabad: Pursue science to make impact says BS Murty

Prof. Murty said it is important to expose children to scientific and research activities early on in their career.

HYDERABAD: Director of IIT-Hyderabad Professor B.S. Murty asked students to motivate themselves into taking up science towards making an impact on the society and industry. He was interacting with students of TMR Junior College situated at Barkas on Friday.

Providing students a brief exposure on the latest research and innovation activities being taken up at IIT-Hyderabad, Prof. Murty said it is important to expose children to scientific and research activities early on in their career.

Though they may not understand everything, they will have lifelong memories of what they see or hear during such interactions. The IIT-H director briefed students about the on-going research on artificial intelligence, robotics, and nanotechnology. He advised students not to enter IITs just to get a good job offer. They should instead strive to become good engineers with a vision to achieve their goals. Telangana minorities residential educational institutions society secretary, B. Shafiullah, said the society has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT-Hyderabad for providing training to TMREIS faculty and students, who are interested in Information Technology and other courses.
