Pathanamthitta: The BJP has called for a hartal in Pathanamthitta district on Friday alleging foul play in the mysterious death of an Ayyappa devotee.
Sivadas from Pandalam was found dead in a gorge at Kambakathum Valavu near Laha on Thursday while he was reportedly on a pilgrimage to Sabarimala. His family had filed a petition with the police alleging that he had gone missing since Wednesday.
However, the police maintained that his death was due to accident.
The Sabarimala Karma Samithi and Hindu Aikyavedi have also announced their support to the hartal. Meanwhile, Parumala pilgrims have been exempted from the hartal.
