Chennai: Woman ends life after her brother was diagnosed with swine flu

On Wednesday morning, the test reports proved that Seethapathy was diagnosed with swine flu.

Chennai: A 60-year-old woman ended her life after knowing that her brother was diagnosed with swine flu on Thursday. According to police,

Seethpathy (65) a resident of Pammal in Pallavaram, stayed with his sister Sumathi (60) and her daughter Saveriya (28).

Seethapathy's children are settled in other districts, while Sumathi husband died a few years ago. He was affected by a mysterious fever and was admitted to a private hospital at Vadapalani on Saturday. On Wednesday morning, the test reports proved that Seethapathy was diagnosed with swine flu. Police said Sumathi was worried after the doctors told her that his situation is critical.

On Thursday morning, she immolated herself in the house. On hearing the cries, Saveriya who was sleeping in another room rushed her to Chromepet GH where she was declared dead on arrival. The Shankar Nagar police filed a case and probe is on.
