Telangana: Water for all by June, says KT Rama Rao

Mr Rama Rao said about 82 per cent pipelines were laid so far.

Hyderabad: Municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao said that state government would provide Mission Bhagiratha water to every household before the 2019 elections and fulfil its promise. He said 49 Assembly constituencies had been covered under Mission Bhagiratha and work is progressing at a brisk pace in the remaining constituencies. The government had set a target of June 2018 to complete the project. Mr Rama Rao said about 82 per cent pipelines were laid so far. During Question Hour in Legislative Assembly Mr Rama Rao said, “3,787 habitations spread over 49 Assembly constituencies have been covered. All the households will be covered by June 2018.”

Besides taking up intra-village connection pipelines, the state government was taking up interlinking of pipelines with various municipalities and municipal corporations. Mr Rama Rao said around 35,799 overhead tanks were required for the supply of water. “18,806 overhead tanks are being constructed across the state. More than 16,000 tanks have already been constructed,” he added.
