Over 50 per cent of Indian students in US doing PG

Education is a prominent pillar of the US-India partnership.

Hyderabad: Ms Katherine Hadda, United States consul general in Hyderabad, has said that the number of Indian students in the US was growing annually. Over 50 per cent of the Indian students are pursuing post-graduate studies in the US.

Launching the US University Fair, organised by the US India Education Foundation (USIEF) and Education USA, in the city, she said 1.66 lakh international students are burning the midnight oil at 35 different institutions and universities in the US. “Education is a prominent pillar of the US-India partnership. We are committed to provide Indian students the opportunity to pursue a world-class education in the US,” she said.

Ms Hadda expressed hope that more female students from India will opt for higher education in the US. “As per my observation, not enough female students are applying for studies in United States. India and the world need more Indian female leaders. We would like to see a balanced gender figure in number of Indian students going to the United States,” she added. About 35 US-based educational institutions and universities participated in the fair.
