Karnataka: One more party, by ex-cop Anupama Shenoy!

Ms Shenoy, addressing her supporters, said many people are disappointed with the present political scenario.

Ballari: Former Deputy Superintendent of police of Kudligi Ms Anupama Shenoy, who left the police force following a spat with former Minister, P.T. Parameshwara Naik, launched her new political party named Bharatiya Janashakthi Congress (BJC) at Kudligi town in the district on Kannada Rajyotsava Day on Wednesday.

Ms Shenoy along with her supporters offered floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi Smarak in the town and took out a rally to Panchacharya Kalyana Mantapa where she officially declared the launch of her party-BJS. Although there was speculation that the former police officer would join a political party like the BJP, she put an end to the rumours by launching BJS at Kudligi town where she served as DySP.

Ms Shenoy, accompanied by Rajashekhar Mulalim, who exposed the sex-tape of former excise minister Mr H.Y. Meti and local farmers' leader Darur Purushothamagouda released her party flag. which bears the colours of the Indian flag- saffron, white and green- and India's map in the middle.

Ms Shenoy, addressing her supporters, said many people are disappointed with the present political scenario. "Despite having leadership qualities, such people does not have a proper political forum. Therefore, I decided to float a political party for such people", she said. Ms Shenoy said her party would not protect corrupt politicians. "It is difficult to identify the corrupt people in politics. However, once we find anyone involved in corrupt practices, we will not protect them", she said.

Ms Shenoy also announced that her party would field candidates in all the 224 assembly constituencies in the coming 2018 assembly general elections. She has not revealed her constituency yet. " If we win some seats and a rival party falls short of a majority, we will be ready to support it. Our aim is to provide a good environment to enable honest officials thrive,”she added.
