Andhra Pradesh told to respond on Dharmana Prasad Rao's plea

The petitioner told the court that he was one of the members of the Cabinet sub-committee which was constituted in 2004.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the AP police and principal secretary, home, to respond by Wednesday on a petition by former minister Dharmana Prasad Rao seeking to direct the state to restore his security cover with 2+2 gunmen.

Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy while dealing with the petition of the former minister asked counsel for the AP government to get instructions from the authorities by Wednesday. The petitioner told the court that he was one of the members of the Cabinet sub-committee which was constituted in 2004 to negotiate with the Maoists.

He was provided 2+2 security cover in 2004 and it was withdrawn in 2016 and when he approached the High Court, the government provided 1+1 security with the order of the court.

He submitted that in view of the killings of TD legislator Kidari Sarveswar Rao and former MLA Siveri Somu of Araku constituency by Maoists he needed protection.
