Andhra Pradesh bus rams into truck

Bus tried to overtake from wrong side and rammed into a parked truck.

Hyderabad: Six persons were killed in an accident on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway on Sunday. The mishap occurred when a Hyd-erabad-bound APSRTC bus with 36 passengers on board crashed into a truck parked on the roadside. The truck driver also lost his life in the accident.

The deceased were identified as G. Sattaiah, 57, K. Rani 37, M. Murali Prasad 60, M. Kutumba Rao 60, M. Varaprasad,64, and Edukondalu,48,the truck driver.

According to the police, a super luxury bus from Avanigadda depot in Krishna district was heading to Vijayawada at 10 pm with 36 passengers. Meanwhile, a truck heading towards Hyde-rabad was parked at Maddelachervu due to technical snarls.

The accident occurred while the bus driver tried to overtake another bus from the left. The driver failed to notice the stationary truck. Three passengers were killed on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

Superintendent of police Mr Prakash Jadav said that the RTC bus driver was overspeeding and the truck driver failed to put the parking signals. The bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem.
