Confidentiality is the key to Income Declaration Scheme
Hyderabad: The AP circle of income Tax department has risen to Rs 11,000 crore from the Income Declaration Scheme (IDS), which expired on Friday.
The sources that the AP Circle had taken up a series of awareness programmes on the IDS. “The scheme began in June this year and we have started awareness programmes among taxpayers, tax bar associations and other sectors from July beginning. We held a series of seminars and awareness programmes apart from public announcements and pamphlets printed in Telugu, Hindi, English and Urdu,” the sources said.
Explaining about the confidentiality, the sources said, “Except the Income Declared person and official with a rank of commissioner or principal commissioner, no other departmental staff do not know about the information. Even, CBDT personnel will have information about the amount but, not the person’s details. This led to encourage those who were holding black money.”
Hyderabad district has contributed about 65 per cent to the Telangana’s total and in A.P. there was good response from Vijayawada, Guntur and Visakhapatnam districts.
