Covid testing centre set up in Guntur railway station
Vijayawada: A first-of-its-kind Covid-19 testing centre began at the Guntur railway station here on Wednesday. It will cater to both commuters and the general public.
Guntur divisional railway manager, R. Mohan Raju, after inaugurating the laboratory, emphasized the need for such a facility in important locations like a railway station.Urging the people to avail of the facility, he appreciated the railway staff for arranging the laboratory.
The organizers said that the 24x7 lab conducts tests and also provides post-Covid diagnostics.
Tests are done at a modest charge of Rs. 499. The certificate it issues is valid and recognized all over, they said.
Meanwhile, Mohan Raja also inaugurated a ‘Fresh Up Smart Stay Lounge’ on Platform No. 1 in the railway station. It is operated 24x7 on a ‘Pay by Hour or Pay as You Use Concept’.
On the business front, the Waltair division loaded 26.71 MT of freight from April to August. This was 34.3% more than the load in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Revenue generated by originating freight loading from April to August was around Rs. 3,090 crore. It was Rs. 773.30 crore more than the revenue earned in the corresponding period last fiscal, which was around Rs. 2,316.70 crore.
The railways did an incremental loading of 131MT during the period, of which 6.82 MT (5.21%) was handled by Vizag division.
