Have congratulated new Telangana Governor : K Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundarajan is Telangana’s new Governor. Bandaru Dattatreya, senior Telangana BJP leader is the new Himachal Pradesh Governor.
The 72-year-old Dattatreya, known as a people’s leader in Telangana, is an old BJP loyalist. Thanking the PM and Shah, he said: “I will discharges my duties democratically and abiding by the Constitution.”
Mr Dattatreya was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991 from Secunderabad seat and then in 1998. He was Union minister of state (MoS) for urban development in Atal Behari Vajpayee’s government.
Re-elected in 1999, he was the MoS for urban development and for railways, and in 2004, he was MoS with independent charge of urban development and poverty alleviation. He was elected to Parliament again in 2014, and Modi made him MoS for labour and employment.
Born on June 12, 1947 in Hyderabad, Dattatreya is a BSc from Osmania University. He started as an RSS pracharak in 1968 and held various positions in related organisations.
He was arrested during the Emergency. When he was denied a ticket in 2019 it looked as if his political career had ended. But such is obviously not the case.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao welcomed new Governor Tamilisai Sundarajan.
In a telephonic call the Chief Minister he also congratulated her on assuming charge as new governor of Telangana state.
Mr Rao also congratulated Dattatreya on his appointment as governor of Himachal Pradesh.
