Drug from New York couriered to Hyderabad seized

Acting on specific information, an NCB team inspected the office of a courier service, where the drug was seized.

Hyderabad: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday seized 100 tablets of depose (diazepam) that was manufactured at New York and sent to India through a courier service. A case was registered by the NCB and the investigation has been taken up.

Acting on specific information, an NCB team inspected the office of a courier service, where the drug was seized. The tablets which contained the manufacturing place as Clifton Park, New York, USA and was supposed to be sold in the US.

“The tablets were concealed in sweets and were sent via courier. The investigation is under progress,” said an NCB officials.

According to the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, the illegal possession of more than 20 gm of diazepam, which is termed as a small quantity, is an offence.
