Civic neglect makes people suffer in Hyderabad
Save Gulzar Houz Fountain
I urge everyone in the government to kindly take a good look at the sad dilapidated situation of the famous Gulzar Houz Foundation, near Charminar, which is part of our rich history and a part of our invaluable heritage. I would like to bring this to the notice of the archaeology department to kindly make efforts to save this precious monument. If you don’t take urgent measures to save it, future generations would hold you responsible for the ‘murder’ of heritage. Such monuments need to be maintained regularly, with diligence, and and the plastic bags and dirty water has to be removed immediately.

Cattle dung blocks drainage
The GHMC and HMWS&SB have provided a special opening leading to underground drainage pipe at the SV Colony, RK Puram, near Neredmet for disposing cattle dung from doodhwalas. The dung from about 50 cattle chokes the drainage at least once every fortnight causing drain water to fill the road.

Dog menace at Public Gardens
I regularly walk at the Public Garden during evenings. The place is full of young, old, children, women and several senior citizens. Of late it has been noticed that a few stray dogs roam around freely posing a serious threat to citizens, including their life. Let us not wait for a serious mishap to take place. I urge GHMC to urgently take necessary steps to ensure that stray dogs are not roaming around freely.

Stop parking of school buses on our streets
Lingampally, Street No 9, which is adjacent to the Reddy Women’s College, Narayanguda, has become a public parking street for all school vehicles and buses. This not only occupies a large part of the road, causing traffic congestion, but has also become a cover for people to urinate on footpaths.

Pitiable state of Street No. 5, Himayatnagar
Despite several complaints launched with GHMC about garbage being dumped right outside our apartment complex, the authorities are turning a blind eye. After major sewage line works from July 2018, the authorities paved the road beautifully, but left dozens of plastic drums and massive 1-metre diameter drain pipes against our compound wall.
Because of debris lying around, people have once again started dumping garbage along our wall. If this trend sets in, this important street will once again become a garbage dump. The drums and pipes left by authorities have also provided ideal corners for public nuisance. Pedestrians no longer can walk along this side of the road, because of the foul smell. The works have completely damaged the protective fencing, which is attracting further public nuisance.
Secondly, not only is our compound wall getting damaged, but continued urination is seeping into our water harvesting area, emanating foul smell throughout our building, attracting flies and mosquitoes, and increasing the risk of diseases such as chikunguniya, dengue and malaria.

Build new Bolarum-Alwal underpass for vehicles
The busy Bolarum-Alwal road needs to have a broader underpass for easy movement of ever growing vehicular traffic. This road has turned bottleneck for vehicles and causing heavy traffic jams and snarls at times.
The SCR, SCB and GHMC needs to get a way out of this narrow pass and provide a broader underpass for easy regulation of traffic.

Park Lane road belongs on moon
The road work, which started around August 15, on the Park Lane road is yet to be finished. This is creating a lot of inconvenience to commuters, being a busy road connecting General Bazaar. Being a business centre, it is also affecting all businesses around. Request concerned officials to arrange complete work early.

Rename Banjara Hills Road no. 10 ‘garbage street’
Our residential locality Gurubhrama Nagar is located in the lane right opposite Apollo Pharmacy/Lane adjacent to Al Kareem Restaurant on Road No 10, Banjara Hills. This road can aptly be called ‘garbage road’ as it is full of garbage. Most of the time garbage is spilled out of the municipal garbage bins in the lanes and by lanes all over that makes us residents difficult to walk or drive. In spite of repeated requests, the municipal officials do not shift these bins to any other suitable location.
If you see in the photos, the garbage bins are located right almost in the centre of the road. This place is also used by municipal workers to segregate trash. The footpaths too are in bad shape again with lot of garbage. It has become a breeding ground for mosquito and rodents.

Colony roads dug up
I would like bring to attention of municipal authorities that the Jawaharnagar co-op housing society crossroad was dug up two weeks ago. The rains in the past few days have made it worse. Some bikers have had minor accidents and suffered injuries.
Why doesn’t Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation repair the road before the onset of rains, during the summer?
Our local municipality office at Malkajgiri has failed to address these problems despite repeated reminders on GHMC mobile app.

Install traffic lights at Yapral
We, the residents of Prakruthik Vihar on Balajinagar Road, Yapral, appeal to concerned authorities to urgently install traffic lights at the crossroads linking Balajinagar road with Yapral-Kowkur main road, near the Hanuman temple crossing. This is a highly accident-prone crossing, with heavy and continuous traffic around the clock. There are no traffic policemen to control the traffic. A number of accidents have taken place at this chowrasta. We personally met our corporator and MLA six months ago and made a request in writing, but are still awaiting any action in this regard.
To make matters worse, main road from Balajinagar road to this crossing is in a dilapidated condition, with innumerable potholes. We request GHMC and traffic police to visit the area to understand how their apathy is risking lives of commuters daily.

Hospitals disturb our quiet colony
Barkatpura Street no 8 was a quiet colony. But with two multispeciality hospitals in the area, it has become a chaotic lane. There is no road as it is filled with two wheelers and four wheelers causing much inconvenience to residential apartments nearby. Even their security guards are helpless.
Apart from this, the patient party is on the road spitting and smoking. Wish they were sensitive to people living around. I request concerned authorities to take steps to solve their parking issue.

Dogs make area unsafe for kids
We are having great difficulty with many dogs in our area Red Hills. Because of them, our place has become unsafe for children. The dogs move in groups and have become a menace for everybody.

No facilities at registration offices
I happened to visit the registration office recently. There are no basic facilities like proper seating arrangements, fans, drinking water, toilets or parking. Most of these offices are located in small dingy premises. Anyone visiting these offices for property or marriage registration has to spend a minimum of three to four hours. I request the government to look into facilities at all registration offices.

Overflowing drains in Gachibowli
There is an open drain overflowing in the posh area from Tata-AIG Hospital, towards the Deloitte Towers in Gachibowli. The lane between these two important and busy buildings has stinky overflowing waters, causing health hazards to all. We request the authorities to take required action.
— Sameena Quadri, Gachibowli
No drinking water for Barkatpura
There was no municipal water supply since August 28 at Barkatpura. After two days, when we did receive some water on August 30, it was not purified water and unworthy of drinking. The residents of Barkatpura were compelled to purchase bottled water as the municipal water supplied was suitable for cleaning purposes but not for drinking. The municipal authorities are requested to look into this matter and supply purified drinking water to the residents of Barkatpura.

Monkey menace in Gandhinagar
We, the residents of Gandhinagar, Kavadiguda, especially streets no. 8 and 9, live a hellish life due to the monkey menace. Schoolchildren find it difficult to move on and our maids are reluctant to get inside as these monkeys sit on compound walls and gates from 5 am till midnight. They enter our homes, open the fridge door and spill its contents. Plants are uprooted and thrown about.
In the last week they have attacked three people, who are undergoing treatment with anti-rabies injection. Of late they have become very ferocious as they are starved. It is high time concerned authorities take immediate action to eradicate this menace.

Contaminated water from SCWB
Over the last one week, the Secunderabad Cantonment Water Board has been supplying highly contaminated drinking water to all residents. The water is not clean, the supply is full of mud, brown in colour and emits foul smell. We plead with the authorities to test the water on a priority basis, and regularly, before supplying to colonies. Such water has to be treated well before supplying and has to be supplied only when it is clean and safe for drinking .
Till then please stop supplying water through pipes and make some alternate arrangements .
