ULB poll: Results by Monday noon
BENGALURU: Contrary to poor turnouts in recent polls to the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha, an impressive 67.51 per cent voters cast their franchise in 105 urban local bodies elections for which polling was held on Saturday.
The votes polled will be held on Monday. Since, electronic voting machines have been used for the first time, the results would be out before noon. In Kodagu, elections for 45 wards spread across three town have been countermanded due to natural calamity. So, elections were held for only 2633 wards. In ward 19 of Afzalpur muncipality, polling could not take place as nomination papers of all candidates were rejected.
In Chamarajanagar city municipal council, the election was postponed in ward number 9 following the death of BSP candidate. Thirty candidates were elected unopposed in 12 wards of own municipal councils and 18 wards of municipalities.
