C M Ibrahim has 2 voter IDs: BJP to Election Commission
BENGALURU: Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Opposition leader in the BBMP Padmanabha Reddy will submit a petition to the Election Commission of India on Monday against former Union minister and Congress MLC C.M. Ibrahim for holding two voter ID cards – one with local address and another with address of his residence in Bhadravathi
According to a press release here, the BJP leaders alleged that Mr Ibrahim was a voter in Bhadravathi Assembly constituency as well as in Shivajinagar Assembly constituency in Bengaluru, which was illegal as per ECI rules. In the Assembly polls held in 2013, Mr Ibrahim had unsuccessfully contested on a Congress ticket from Bhadravathi constituency. Post his election as Member of the Legislative Council, he had reportedly included his name in the voters’ list in Shivajinagar constituency.
The BJP leaders alleged that Mr Ibrahim could vote in polls to elect a new Mayor and deputy Mayor for Bengaluru on September 30 with the help of the voter identity card issued in Bengaluru. The Election Commission should initiate action against the former Union minister, they said.
