New Temple: Yadadri temple to open in February or May
Yadadri: The Yadadri Temple Development Authority (YTDA) said on Friday that the sanctum sanctorum (Garbhalayam) of Yadadri Laxminarsimha Swamy temple would be open to pilgrims by Brahmotsavams (February) or Nrusimha Jayanti (May) next year. The garbhalayam was closed a year ago.
YTDA CEO G. Kishan Rao said YTDA’s projects would cost Rs 1,800 crore of which the Telangana government had sanctioned Rs 300 crore and would sanction Rs 500 crore more soon.
“The government is developing the temple with ‘Krishna Shila’. Constructing temples with the Krishna Shila is rare. Yadadri will have nine hills and it will be called ‘Nine hill and Seven Towers (Gopurams) Temple’. The main Raja Gopuram will have seven floors and others will have five and less. Earlier, the temple was located on a 50 cent plot. The new temple including Brahmotsav place and Tiru Mada Streets will have three acres. Earlier, there was no chance of a pradakshina around the temple. But that will be possible after the renovation apart from 2.7 km of Giri Pradakshina (road around the Yadadri hill),” he said.
Consultant architect P. Madhusudhan said the YTDA was simultaneously developing the sanctum sanctorum of the Laxminarsimha Swamy and Shiva temples.
“Pilgrims can reach the bus bay on the hill through a public transport and from there they can reach the queue complexes. Yadadri will have eight halls in the queue complex with a capacity of 300 pilgrims each. Those who visit the temple from ‘Srivari Metlu’ will directly reach the eighth hall. There will be special facilities for pregnant and old people who can have direct darshan. The VIP and VVIP queues will join Darmadarshan lines at the sanctum sanctorum. Once pilgrims complete darshan, they’ll come out via another way leading to Shivalayam and Pushkarani. We are developing the pushkarani with a capacity of 10 lakh litres of water,” he said.
Executive Officer N. Geetha said that there would no change in the customs of pujas and other sevas.
