KAKINADA: With Telugu Desam sweeping the Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections, now internally candidates are trying their best to garner support to claim the Mayor post. TD sources said that four candidates - S.Siva Prasanna, Adduri Varalakshmi, Sunkara Pavani, and Makinedi Seshu kumara - are aspiring for the post. Both Ms Varalakshmi and Ms Pavani are backed by Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu). But between them, the latter has an edge with her husband being TD city President S. Tirumala Kumar
Makineedi Seshukumari keeps hopes on the party high command as she participated in padayatra Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu previously. She is also state Secretary Telugu Mahila Prachara Vibhagam (TD women publicity cell). However, sources said that Ms Prasanna might clinch the post, as her husband S. Vidya Sagar is strong follower of the finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa. Reportedly, Mr Sagar is part of the inner circle of the party high command. "Siva Prasanna might emerge as winning horse in the race for Mayor post," a senior party leader said.
