Facelift soon for Bollarum hospital
Hyderabad: The cantonment areas sole General Hospital in Bollarum which was functioning only partially due to lack of specialist doctors and facilities is all set to get a big boost with the Telangana government coming forward to start maternity services and distribution of KCR kits to women undergoing institutional deliveries here. The decision will come into effect within 15 days.
This decision was taken after a visit of health department officials, led by minister C. Laxma Reddy to the hospital along with MLA G. Sayannaa and Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy on Friday.
Mr Laxma Reddy held discussions with SCB CEO S.V.R. Chandrashekar, vice-president J. Ramakrishna and other officials on restoring full services at this 30-bedded hospital which was inaugurated a year ago.
The minister hailed the infrastructure and facilities and said that if doctors, paramedics and lab equipments were made available that would help lakhs of families in Medchal, Shamirpet, Bollarum. For this the Telangana government has to enter into an understanding with SCB and cantonment officials, he said.
Mr Reddy said the government’s objective is to construct hospitals in all areas of the twin cities so that patients need not come to Osmania and Gandhi hospitals.
Cantonment officials said that facilities like Ortho, ENT, trauma care etc. will be extended in a phased manner with the help of the Telangana government. If everything goes as per plan we will try to make it a 50-bedded hospital in the near future, they said.
