Cops try their luck in trying to streamline traffic issues in Anantapur

The traffic police have selected Sapthagiri circle and Subhash Road in Anantapur as a pilot project.

Anantapur: In view of heavy traffic congesting roads of Anantapur, the traffic police have selected Sapthagiri circle and Subhash Road in Anantapur as a pilot project to streamline movement of vehicles in the city. Subhash Road area main road is always chaotic with vehicular pile-ups being a common sight, making it difficult for the cops to handle the situation.

Former SP S.V. Rajasekhar tried to solve the problem and introduced reforms like posting additional staff on duty at each busy circle. But, the problems continued at the district headquarters. Present SP G.V.G. Ashok Kumar has also initiated steps to streamline traffic in the city. DSP Mr Narasingappa told this newspaper that Subhash Road area is being taken up as a pilot project to clear the hurdles.

“We have served notices to all shopping complexes and buildings to not allow vehicles to be parked on roads outside shops which was a major cause of concern,” the traffic DSP said. The cops set a deadline of August 26 to charge fines against violations, mainly illegal parking of vehicles on footpaths. The police teams have begun taking serious action against the violators for the past two days. More than 70 motorcycles were seized and shifted to police stations. The vehicles were released after imposing a penalty at the police stations.
