Kashmir remains in lock down

Although the entire Kashmir Valley was curfew-free, forces have imposed restrictions on movement of people at many places in old city.

Srinagar: A day after a teenager was killed in clashes, tension prevailed in Kashmir with official on Thursday sealing roads leading to the Lal Chowk city centre here in view of separatists’ call to lock down public broadcasting services.

Although the entire Kashmir Valley was curfew-free, forces have imposed restrictions on movement of people at many places in old city. Security forces have also been deployed in strength around the large premises of Doordarshan, Radio Kashmir and the state’s Information Department.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the all-party delegation led by Home Minister Rajnath Singh will not just visit Srinagar but Jammu too. Among those likely to be part of the delegation are ministers Arun Jaitley, Ram Vilas Paswan, Jitendra Singh as well as Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, Assadudin Owaisi, Sitaram Yechury and D. Raja. The delegation will discuss all issues related to J&K but within the constitutional provisions.
