Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court directed the government to fill up vacancies of Chairman and members of the TS Commission for SCs and STs by September 15. The bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T. Vinod Kumar was hearing a PIL filed by S. Ganesh and J. Shankar. The special government pleader said that the process would be completed in about six weeks. The bench said it expected an order of appointment or a list of selected candidates and posted the matter to September 15.
Suspect EIA reports: HC orders notice
A bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T. Vinod Kumar directed Team Labs and Consultancy to file their counter in three weeks to a PIL alleging that it was preparing false and frivolous environmental impact assessment (EIA) reports for industries. P.L.N. Rao had filed the PIL. The bench posted the matter to August 22.
HCA Case: Nagarjuna Const. gets reprieve
Justice G. Anupama Chakravarthy stayed criminal prosecution against Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) over allegations of its involvement in financial regularities by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The company was arrayed as the 10th respondent in a complaint lodged before the ACB. NCC said it was a contractor and that all the amounts it received were accounted for. The bench posted the matter to September 18.
Case against Addl Collector stayed
Justice G. Anupama Chakravarthy stayed criminal proceedings against additional collector Garlapati Venkateswarlu while admitting his petition on Tuesday. The issue was the acquisition of land belonging to a temple in Saidabad in Hyderabad. The petitioner said that he had carried out statutory functions under the Land Acquisition Act. The police could not book statutory functionaries carrying out statutory functions.
Woman life convicts granted bail
A bench of Justice K. Lakshman and Justice Sujana Kalasikam freed on bail three women convicted to life in a murder case and admitted a criminal appeal filed by the three women, their spouses and another person, all convicted by the First Additional Sessions Judge at Bhongir for the death of a person in group clashes over the laying a road at Challur of Bhongir district in April 2020. Senior counsel Pradyumna Kumar Red-dy said the only charge against the women were that they had pelted stones.
HC refuses to stay on Kokapet auction
Justice M. Sudheer refused to stay the auction of Kokapet land, and adjourned the matter to August 7. The judge was hearing a writ petition filed by Akshay Dutt and seven others who stated that the land in Survey No.s 239 and 240 of Kokapet was in dispute. Another writ petition was filed before Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy praying for similar relief. The judge adjourned the matter to Wednesday.
