Vijayawada: Giving a major relief to the state health authorities, the suspected case of monkeypox of an eight-year-old boy turned out to be negative as per the report from National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune here on Monday.
The boy along with his parents hailing from Odisha arrived to Yedlapadu village of Palnadu district some 15 days ago as his parents work as labourers. However, he developed measles with blisters forming on his body and fever and he was admitted in government hospital in Guntur on the night of July 28.
His samples were sent to NIV for testing, suspecting him to be a case of monkeypox and the results declared him to be negative.
Meanwhile, the hospital authorities are giving him antiviral treatment and are giving supporting medical treatment at the same hospital.
Hospital superintendent Dr Prabhavathi said, “The boy tested negative for monkeypox disease and we are giving him treatment for the infection he developed and his condition is stable.”...
