Police quizzing Siddhartha’s finance officers, associates

Mangaluru: The investigation into the CCD promoter V.G. Siddhartha's death has been intensified with the police teams contacting all those close to him, including his finance officers and advisers.

While coming to Mangaluru from Bengaluru by car on Monday, Siddhartha got down at Ullal Bridge and later went missing. With his body being found in the Netravathi River on Wednesday morning, the police who had earlier registered a missing case, converted it to Unnatural Death Report (UDR) case and have started investigation from Wednesday.

City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil held a two-and-half hour meeting on Thursday morning with the Investigating Officer (IO) and other officials related to this case to review the developments.

One team has been sent to Bengaluru that would question all those related to the case there and the other team is looking into all the technical aspects that would help in solving the case like the phone calls, the text messages and other details.

As a letter said to be written by Siddhartha is doing rounds, the police officials are trying to get to know the source and how it was circulated.

"We are also probing the genuineness and the contents of the letter," the Police Commissioner said and added that more details could be provided only after the completion 7of the investigation.

"We have asked the Chief Finance Officer and financial assistants and advisers to be available for the inquiry. We will ask them the financial position and the reason that might have made him to take such step," the Commissioner said.

Details from the Finance Officer and advisers is likely to throw more light in the case as the police would be in a position to know finance related problem and its seriousness that would have driven Siddhartha to take such a serious step.

"The postmortem was done on Wednesday morning and the report is likely to be received by Friday," the Commissioner added.

Meanwhile the police officials are also looking into the call details of Siddhartha and are questioning those whom he had spoken at last few hours. The driver too has been questioned and sent back.

As the family was busy with the last rites, the police officials would start speaking to them and collect details later.
