Women can apply for IAS, IPS coaching
Chennai: The directorate of collegiate education has invited applications from women candidates to undergo IAS, IPS free coaching in two government colleges.
Queen Mary’s College in Chennai and Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women in Madurai will conduct the coaching classes for the civil service aspirants. The candidates will be selected through entrance examination which will be conducted on August 30. The application for the entrance exam should be sent to the centre preferred.
The exam will have questions from Indian history, geography, public administration, economics, current affairs, general English, general science.
“The selected candidates will be provided free coaching from September to March. The classes will go on from morning to evening. This year we are planning to bring more experts and serving IAS, IPS officers to help the women candidates,” said K.Sudarkodi, coordinator of the programme and head, department of economics, Queen Mary’s College.
Each batch will have 60 students. The students will be selected based on their marks in entrance exam and interview. “Our library has more than 2,500 books including NCERT publications and study materials to help the students prepare for the preliminary exams,” she said. Students will be provided coaching in general studies, Indian history, geography, Indian polity, Indian economy, mental ability and current affairs.
The coaching will be provided only for the preliminary exams. Among the candidates who have undergone coaching, four candidates got appointed in state government and two candidates in the Airport Authority of India, three got employed in banking sectors.
