The complainant kept a demand of Rs 1 lakh insurance cover with 30% interest per annum and Rs 30 thousand as compensation.

Hyderabad: After a wait of seven years, a widow woman from Mahboob Nagar received the accident insurance worth Rs 1 lakh which had covered her deceased husband.

The 51-year-old woman had been in a legal battle with Andhra Bank after it refused to pay the insurance claim. She had lost her husband in an accident in 2011 in a freak mishap. While her husband had an insurance cover of accidents under the Abhaya Gold Scheme of the Andhra Bank, the bank refused to give her the cover.

Despite having submitted the required documents the bank postponed her claim request.

Though notices had been served to the bank to appear for the case, it failed to do so or even refute the claims of the complainant.
