Amit Shah second politician after PM to win 1 crore FB likes
Chennai: The BJP here is ecstatic over the "increasing" number of followers for its president Amit Shah on Facebook. The tech savvy Amit Shah attained new milestone on social media on Tuesday, as his Facebook 'likes' crossed the one-crore mark.
Last year, BJP's Facebook 'likes' crossed one-crore mark. Probably, the BJP's aggressive social media strategy is reaping full benefits and setting new precedents in the Indian political circles.
Amit Shah is a popular figure on social media and is ardently followed on Facebook as well as the microblogging site Twitter. His Facebook followers have now reached 1 crore and 20,000 and on Twitter, the BJP chief is followed by approximately 58 lakh and 90,000 users.
Delighted by the development, the BJP chief thanked his followers on Facebook for the love and support. The BJP also congratulated its dynamic chief for such a mass following and state leaders too were quick to congratulate him.
Interestingly, Amit Shah is the second Indian politician after Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have attained this unique feat. Mr Modi has over than 4 crore and 25 lakh followers on Facebook.
With so much euphoria about his prospering clan on the net, the state unit of the BJP is eagerly looking to his three-day tour of the state from August 22-24. The visit assumes significance in the backdrop of the BJP attempting to step into the 'power vacuum' created in the State by the demise of AIADMK leader and former
Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and the conviction and jailing of the ruling party's former acting general secretary V. K. Sasikala in cases related to graft.
Mr Shah had earlier planned to visit Tamil Nadu between May 10 and 12, but postponed the trip for various reasons.
