MoU inked to get power from waste
VIJAYAWADA: The Swachhandhra Corporation has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Essel group in order to generate power from waste. The Corporation has signed MoUs with Jindal, Essel Group, Envee Care and Nexus Nova groups to set up plants in Vizainagaram, Guntur, Tirupati, Nellore, Anantapur, Kadapa districts.
On Monday, the Corporation entered into an agreement over setting up plants in two more districts. In the presence of Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Dr P. Narayana, the Corporation Managing Director (MD) Muralidhar Reddy has entered into an agreement with the Essel group, over setting up waste-to-energy plants of 4 MW power generation at Rudraram and 5 MW in Tadepalligudem.
The government will purchase power from these plants at the rate of Rs 7.50 paise per unit for the next 25 years and after that the plants will be handed over to the government in complete condition mode. This PPP mode plants have to be operational within 18 months, from signing the MoU.
