Eamcet-3 order hits Hyderabad High Court hurdle
Hyderabad: In a new twist to the Eamcet saga, a pending case in the Hyderabad High Court here has halted issuance of the Eamcet-3 timetable on Monday.
The Telangana state government had made all the arrangements for release of the test schedule, only to find that a public interest litigation (PIL) filed in the High Court seeking cancellation of Eamcet-2 after leakage of question papers, did not come up for hearing during the day.
Though there was no clarity now as to when the High Court would take up the case, education officials said it would come up in a day or two. The TS government, which already announced cancellation of Eamcet-2, is awaiting a directive from the court, after which it can release the new schedule.
Officials devised the new Eamcet-3 schedule in such a manner that the entire exam process and medical admissions are completed by September 30. This is for the first time in the state that medical aspirants are made to go for Eamcet thrice, following hiccups like leak of question papers.
However, the government has decided to entrust the responsibility of conducting Eamcet-3 to JNTU-Hyderabad again, despite the problems of the past.
JNTUH cleared in Eamcet leak
A case pending at the Hyderabad High Court has halted issuing of the Eamcet-3 timetable on Monday JNTUH has come under fire from all quarters for the question paper leakage that has put students and parents under severe mental strain. The government says it is convinced that the university is not at fault and the leakage happened at a printing press in New Delhi.
It was the handiwork of an organised crime syndicate, and the university could not have checked it at that level, feels the government. However, a new Eamcet convener is likely to be appointed in place of Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao, in what is projected as a “corrective step”, if not to save the university’s skin.
Meanwhile, officials from TS Council of Higher Education and JNTUH submitted the Eamcet-3 schedule to the government for its approval.
