Bengaluru: When it rains, our Metro stations leak!
Bengaluru: Passenger who take the Metro on the green line, between Mantri Square on Sampige road in Malleswaram and Nagasandra, are facing a strange problem. Whenever it rains, two important stations on the route – Mantri Square and Kuvempu Road stations – see water leaking from the roof. Passengers have to walk through the station carefully otherwise they would slip and fall.
Commuters complained that they have been facing the problem since the monsoon started. “Every time it rains, there is water on the floor, and the problem is severe at the Kuvempu Road station. The water gets collected near the second floor staircases, and I have seen children and senior citizens slipping," said Mr Mallesh Kumar.
“If the stations are leaking just one-and-a-half years after the Green Line is opened, what will happen after some years,” asked Ms Sumitra Kumari.
A BMRCL official said that they have not received any complaints.
‘Majestic Metro station not ready yet’
The incomplete Majestic-Mantri Metro line is making life difficult for commuters, who could have otherwise easily switched lines, from Green to Purple and vice versa, easily. BMRCL officials still cannot give an estimate when the station would be ready. BMRCL Public Relations Officer Vasanth Rao said, “The line is taking time due to track laying and technical challenges faced by engineers. We cannot say how long it will take.”The issue has hit the headlines again as a PIL was filed against it.
