Hyderabad: Nine persons were injured in a head-on collision between a car and an SUV on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway at Hayathnagar on Monday. The car going towards Vijayawada rammed into the SUV coming from the opposite direction. There were around 12 persons in both the vehicles at the time of the accident, police said.
Bhaskar Reddy, a businessman from Ramanthapur, and his family were travelling to Guntur in their car. “When they reached Batasingaram village their car collided with an SUV coming from the other side,” SI Sudheer Kumar of Hayathnagar said.
The injured persons are Bhaskar Reddy, 40, his wife Ussaemmaw 38, Usen Reddy, 38, Ramadevi, 35, Jitender, 8, and Danusri, 5, who were travelling in the car. Gayatri and Usha escaped without injuries.
Haved, 36, Naseshen, 45, and Sadumma who were in the SUV were injured, while Amul Bhanukar escaped without injuries. All the passengers in the SUV belong to Maharashtra.
The victims were shifted to a nearby private hospital and their condition is said to be out of danger. A case for inflicting injuries was registered.
