Interchange inaugurated for ORR at Narsingi

HYDERABAD: Municipal administration minister K. T. Rama Rao on Saturday inaugurated the 20th interchange for Outer Ring Road at Narsingi. This has been constructed by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at a cost of Rs 29.50 crore.

This will provide a direct link for traffic coming from Narsingi and Gandipet to Shamshabad as also those from Langar Houz, Mehdipatnam, Manchirevula and Kismatpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao said, “I remember once my cabinet colleague Sabitha Indra Reddy had said that when this ORR was constructed, many of them wondered if there would be any traffic on such a wide ORR. Now see, this is heavily engaged with traffic.”

He said, “Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in order to increase the speed limit on ORR from 100 kmph to 120 kmph proposed service roads into four -lane roads to cater to the increasing traffic around Hyderabad.”

The minister explained that when he recently met the defence minister, “we urged the central government to give half an acre of defence land for the construction of a skywalk at Mehdipatnam. We have also requested land at Shamirpet. In return we will give land elsewhere.”

On the development of Musi river, he said “the process of tenders for the construction of five of 14 bridges has been completed. Proposals for the construction of a 55 km express skyway, at a cost of about Rs 10,000 crore, are ready.

Next on the agenda is the interchange at Mallampeta, he said.
Sabita Indra Reddy, MLCs Mahender Reddy and Shambipur Raju, MP Ranjith Reddy, MLA Prakash Goud and others were present on the occasion.
