Thiruvananthapuram: DGP Rishiraj Singh orders probe into jail officials’ role

According to jail superintendent, the accused was not in a condition to walk and was carried into the jail by police personnel.

Thiruvananthapuram: Jail DGP Rishiraj Singh on Monday ordered a detailed probe into the role of jail officials in connection with the custodial torture death of Rajkumar in Nedukan-dam. Jail DIG Sam Thankayyan will conduct the probe into the role of jail authorities. He has been asked to submit a detailed report within four days.

Rajkumar was brought to Peermade sub jail at 1.30 am on June 17. According to jail superintendent, the accused was not in a condition to walk and was carried into the jail by police personnel. With his condition deteriorating further, the accused was shifted to Peermade government hospital the next day.

The doctors who had earlier examined Raj Kumar had advised the police not to take him to jail because of his worsening health condition. However, the cops chose ignored the advise .
