Hyderabad: A total of 73 petitions were received by SHE teams in June. In some cases the accused were counselled and in some others, police booked them and also got convictions in the local court. Most of the complaints were received directly or through WhatsApp followed by email and Hawkeye app.
In one of the cases, a 27-year-old person was harassing a woman on social media and forcing her to have a sexual relationship with him. The woman approached the SHE teams and filed a complaint. SHE teams nabbed the accused and booked him under 290 IPC and the City Police Act. The local court awarded him with 10-day imprisonment and imposed a fine on him.
In another case, police received a complaint from a woman stating that she was getting phone calls from unknown numbers and messages on WhatsApp, Facebook and Messenger.
Police registered a case under Section 290 IPC and nabbed 23-year-old Maidar Krishna who got details from his friend.
