Nearly 400 government schools are on the verge of closure due to rationalisation in Guntur district.
Hyderabad: The Save Education Society has held a press conference regarding the closure of government schools announced by the Telangana government.
Its members said the closure of over 100 government schools would affect many students. “Although the strength of these schools is less, more schemes should be implemented to improve the schools rather than shutting them down,” a parent said.
According to the members, better teaching facilities, quality education and awareness about government schools in rural areas could draw children to the existing government schools.
A frequent complaint that has been raised with the closing down of government schools is the increase in privatisation of the education sector.
