Government has lost collective responsibility: Ramesh Chennithala

Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday put the LDF government in the dock over its failure at various fronts.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday put the LDF government in the dock over its failure at various fronts. Inaugurating the UDF’s Secretariat march against its liquor policy, he said it had lost collective responsibility, and no minister listens to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

He cited revenue minister E. Chandrasekharan's justification for staying away from the meeting he called to discuss the Munnar encroachment as an example. "They give scant regard to Mr Vijayan," he said. He reiterated the opposition's position that it would not support encroachments in Munnar but encroachers and migrants will have to be treated differently.

"It is unfortunate that despite the Opposition support, the government has failed to solve the issues of farmers there. They take no efforts at that," he said. “The new liquor policy is against the people. The government is trying to drown Kerala in alcohol, and this is the only point they all agree with each other.” Regarding the sensational abduction and molestation of a prominent actor in Kochi, he said the CM was misleading its investigation by initially making a statement that there was no conspiracy behind it. “What would the investigating officers do when the CM himself makes such a statement? The investigation is not moving in the right direction. Kerala is fast becoming a state where women don’t feel safe anymore,” the former home minister said.
