Pollution troubles ACs in the Vijayawada

Many houses in the industrial estate and Sanath nagar were subjected to that problem in this summer.

Vijayawada: The air-conditioners in Vijayawada city are subjected to damage even before the warranty period.

Engineers are saying that industrial and slum pollution are the main reasons for this typical situation. This has been noticed in the areas like industrial estate, Sanath Nagar, Mutyalampadu and in the areas on canal sides, within the city limits. As a result, the AC dealers in the city have started asking the customers to share the locality details. Based on that information, they are selling the ACs.

One of the most common air-conditioning problems is improper operation, according to AC repair engineer Mohammed Waseem. “If your air-conditioner is on, be sure to close your home’s windows and outside doors,” he specifically said, and added that chemicals in the outside atmosphere have been troubling the new ACs .

Other common problems with existing air-conditioners result from faulty installation, poor service procedures and inadequate maintenance, according to Yalamanchili Nageswara Rao, another service engineer of a reputed air-conditioner company.

But, the case here in Vijayawada city is somewhat different, as the outcome of the garbage or drainage in industrial areas is causing a lot of damage to the ACs installed in the city,” he observed. Giving a specific example, he said that generally copper precipitate deposited on the inside wiring of the ACs is found to be the main route cause for the frequent repairs of air-conditioners.

Many houses in the industrial estate and Sanath nagar were subjected to that problem in this summer. However, the areas specified in Vijayawada city have a different problem of a typical gas pollution generated out of drainage or garbage mixed with industrial chemical wast-age, according to Professor Seepana Balamohan, an environmental expert who shared his views.

The automotive manufactures and chemical engineers in association with the AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) ha”ve to find out a meaningful solution for this problem,” he suggested and added that a treatment plant needs to be set up in Autonagar to address this grievance.

An air-conditioners dealer in the city said that they have received almost 750 complaints about the newly installed air-conditioners.
