Kozhikode collector posts map on his Facebook wall after MP's call for apology

The word 'map' in Malayalam means apology.

Kozhikode: In a clever word play, Kozhikode collector N Prasanth on Friday posted a map of Kunnamkulam town of Thrissur on his Facebook timeline following Congress MP MK Raghavan's call for a public apology. The word 'map' in Malayalam means apology, and the post is seen as a sarcastic reply to the MP's demand for an apology.

The MP and the District administration are at loggerheads over the use of funds under the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

The Congress leader had criticised Prasanth last week after he ordered re-inspection of the construction work undertaken by Raghavan under MPLADS before clearing the bills for payment.

He claimed that the review was akin to insulting him and sought an apology, which translates to ‘map’ in Malayalam.

Claiming that the post was not aimed at anyone in particular, Prasanth told The Indian Express, “Everyone should respect the privacy of an individual. Posting a comment on social media is not the same as signing a government file. It is not possible to obtain prior permission before a Facebook post.”
