No end to chaos at Bolarum railway crossing

There are six schools on that stretch, and after schools reopen, the traffic problem will become worse.

Hyderabad: The lack of a road divider on the road leading to the Bolarum railway crossing causes traffic jams daily during peak morning and evening hours. Residents’ associations have appealed to the Alwal traffic police to take steps to control the traffic flow, but nothing has been done to date.

There are six schools on that stretch, and after schools reopen, the traffic problem will become worse. There are also dozens of engineering college buses that pass this way and add to the congestion.

Murali Krishna, executive committee member of the Federation of Bolarum Colonies, said, “Every time a train passes, the railway gate is closed and the traffic gets jammed for about three kilometres on both sides of the gate. And the main problem starts only then, with the lack of a divider, traffic coming from both ends merge, and the situation becomes haphazard and everything comes to a standstill.”

There was also a demand for an over bridge to relieve the pressure of traffic. When the MMTS phase II becomes operational, the frequency of trains will increase, according to railway employee and Bolarum resident, Ch Simhadri.

When contacted, Inspector Ravinder Reddy said that plastic bollards will be installed on Tuesday near the Bolarum railway gate to discipline the flow of traffic.
