Jagan Mohan Reddy to allow CBI to conduct probes in Andhra Pradesh

The GO prevented the CBI from conducting raids on non-Central establishments and personnel.

VIJAYAWADA: AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has reportedly decided to allow the CBI to operate in Andhra Pradesh by revoking the withdrawal of general consent ordered the previous TD government.

Then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had withdrawn ‘general consent’ to the CBI on August 3 last year, and the orders came to light on November 17. This came following allegations that the BJP-led Union government was misusing the CBI to conduct raids on TD leaders.

The GO prevented the CBI from conducting raids on non-Central establishments and personnel.

Sources said Mr Reddy during a meeting with officials inquiring about the rule position and directed the officials to take measures to cancel the withdrawal of consent order.
