Not monsoon yet, wait for four more days: Met Dept

The light to moderate rainfall will continue over the city, said IMD's forecaster in-charge C.S. Patil.

BENGALURU: The city may have to wait for four more days for the onset of southwest monsoon. Though the Indian Meteorological Department had earlier predicted that the monsoon will hit the city on June 1, it said that the onset of the rainy season cannot be officially declared based on isolated showers at one station.

"Monsoon has to cover more than 50% of the area. The southwest monsoon has reached Hassan and coastal parts of the state. The light to moderate rainfall will continue over the city," said IMD's forecaster in-charge C.S. Patil.

Private forecaster, Skymet Weather, said that the city received rain in May and it was due to these spells that the city could surpass its monthly mean by a big margin.

"Bengaluru recorded 240.2 mm of rain as compared to its monthly mean of 107.4 mm," website officials said.
