Bengaluru: A day after a lower court denied bail to Mohammad Nalapad Haris in connection with an assault at a café in UB City on February 17, the accused has again approached High Court for bail.
The petition is expected to come up for hearing next week. The accused is currently lodged in the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru and has been behind bars for over 100 days.
Ajitabh case
The High Court on Friday observed that the investigation into the missing case of Ajitabh has been casual and expressed disappointment over the lackadaisical approach of the police.
The court also orally observed that no minimum effort was made on part of the investigation team. The submitted report looks like an eyewash, it observed.
The court directed the police to place on record the call details between December 18, 2017 and December 26, 2017 in connection with the case and adjourned the matter for hearing to June 4.
The court was hearing the plea of Abhijith’s father seeking CBI probe.
He went missing when he had gone to show his car to a prospective buyer, who reportedly got in touch with him through an e-commerce website.
Govt stand on ACB
Following directions seeking the stand of the newly-formed state government on Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the government has clarified to the high court that there is no change in stance over ACB formation.
Two new judges
President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Mohammad Nawaz and Harekoppa Thimmanna Gowda Narendra Prasad as additional judges of Karnataka High Court for a period of two years.
