Hyderabad: Parents protest for admission in government school
Hyderabad: For the very first time, parents are protesting to get admission in a government school.
Parents held a protest at the Raj Bhavan School on Friday, alleging they were not getting admission even after waiting for two years.
The Raj Bhavan School in Somajiguda has become popular for its infrastructure and digital classrooms.
Headmistress Manjulatha Narra said the school had admitted more students than allotted but had run out of space.
“Every class has about 60 students whereas the ideal pupil ratio is 30,” Ms Narra said. She said the school was trying to increase capacity by adding more sections but it would take time.
The school took on 120 more students this year. The strength for primary wing is 625 and in the high school section, 525.
A parent said, “We went for admission forms last month but the school authorities said that they will give it in June. When we went today, we were informed that the admissions were over.”
The headmistress said they were asking parents to approach other government schools in the area.
