Bengaluru: Metro crane crashes into bike, kills rider
Bengaluru: A 32-year-old rider fell off his bike and died on the spot after a crane at a Metro construction site crashed into his two-wheeler on Bannerghatta Road late on Thursday night.
The deceased, Susheel Kanchan, hailed from Malpe in Udupi district. He came to Bengaluru a few years ago and was working as a delivery boy with Zomato. After finishing work on Thursday night, he was heading for home in Arakere on his two-wheeler. When he reached Bilekahalli on Bannerghatta Road, the crane, which was being operated at a Metro construction site, crashed into his bike. Susheel fell off the bike, sustained serious head injuries and died. A few passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared brought dead.
Soon after, Susheel's friends rushed to the Metro construction site and protested against the Metro staff. The Mico Layout police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd. The police have registered a complaint and are investigating.
