AIADMK mouthpiece flays Centre on cattle sale ban

Opposition DMK's mouthpiece Murasoli too flayed the Centre.

CHENNAI: Ruling AIADMK’s mouthpiece Dr Namadhu MGR lashed out at the Centre over its recent ban on the sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets, days after Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy said that an official comment could not be given without knowing the details.

The daily demanded to know if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime was for “protection of the country or cow.” Though there was no official confirmation on the issue on behalf of the State Government, a minister and senior AIADMK (Amma) leader merely said, “it reflected the view of the editor.” The views of party top office-bearers which includes the Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues, alone, could have the official stamp, he added. Meanwhile, rebel AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) leader and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam asked the Centre to reconsider the ban.

Opposition DMK’s mouthpiece Murasoli too flayed the Centre by depicting a caricature on the front page showing Mr. Modi riding a cow with a man seated behind. The pillion rider is shown wearing a T. shirt with India inscribed on it. The caption, in English, said: “world is going forward, India is going COWard.” The footnote claimed the image was doing rounds on WhatsApp.
